What is a virtual assistant?

A Virtual Assistant (VA) is an administrative assistant who helps other businesses from a virtual location. This might be their own home, office or creative space. VA’s are generally small business owners themselves, who carry their own ABN, work hours of their own choosing, and may assist multiple businesses at the same time.

What does a Virtual Assistant do?

With the amazing use of technology these days, most VA’s can assist businesses with the same tasks as a normal ‘in-house’ office administrator can complete. This includes tasks such as:

What tools do they use?

A VA uses many different tools depending on what services they offer and systems they have knowledge in. Besides the basic, computer, keyboard and mouse (obviously), many Virtual Assistants use programs such as G-Suite, Adobe, Dropbox, Zoom, MailChimp/Acuity/Calendly, LastPass, Asana etc. You can view a list of tools we normally recommend to our clients here.

How does a Virtual Assistant communicate with their clients?

There are many online systems a VA can use to keep in touch with their clients. Besides the normal email and phone conversations – you can have an online face-to-face meeting using zoom and keep in touch on tasks using a project management system such as asana.

What hours do they work?

All VA’s have their own working hours. Our working hours are the normal business opening hours – Monday to Friday 9am till 5pm.
